Star Academy is a class day program in Northeast San Antonio, Texas for home schooled students, grades 7 -12. We offer once-per-week classes taught by qualified tutors. Subjects being offered are middle school and high school Science, Math, English, History, Spanish, Drama, Art, and other electives, according to interest and teacher availability. Parents pay tutors a monthly fee. This is a drop off arrangement. However parent volunteers are needed to supervise the student lounge. If a family chooses to opt out of volunteering they may pay a fee that will be used to pay a substitute. No siblings allowed on campus during class day hours, except those children belonging to the volunteer study hall parents. Parents can sign their students up for as many or as few classes as are needed. It’s not required to stay all day.
Star Academy is a place for serious learners. Students must maintain a grade average of 70 or above to remain enrolled in Star Academy classes. They are expected to come to class prepared, with all of their materials, and homework done. Studying and excelling will be emphasized. These classes will be excellent preparation for college, providing students with accountability to teachers, and interaction with peers. This is not a program for special needs students, or teens just coming out of public school. Only students genuinely interested in participating and accomplishing the work assigned should sign up.
The Star Academy teachers will assign and grade work and a grade report will be given each semester. Class Day will run from mid-August to mid-May.
