What Unites Us
Friends of Hurricane Creek support a local Hurricane creek full of life, forever flowing. Though we don't always agree on how to get there, we generally agree where we are going. There are as many ways to get involved with FOHC as there are shades of green during an Alabama spring season.
FOHC includes a diverse group of individuals, nonprofits, families, and businesses who have the common goal of restoring and maintaining the health and integrity of the Hurricane Creek watershed. By educating citizens about the relationship between water quality and quality of life, we promote sustainable land use strategies and work together to hold our government agencies and elected officials accountable for how we use our natural resources.
Membership dues provide us with funding needed to continue our work. However, those who cannot afford to pay membership dues are still encouraged to join and "pay it forward" by assisting our Creekkeeper on the ground.
We advocate partnerships with other like-minded organizations and believe that we must work together to facilitate positive change and appreciation of the natural wonders around us. Speaking of friends and allies, we are so grateful for all the groups, organizations, and businesses who partner with us in various activities.
FOHC members can pursue activities based on their interests by serving on the Education Committee, the CORE Committee, the Watershed Management Plan Committee, and the Arts and Events Committee.
As a 501 (c)3, we are a nonprofit organization. All donations and membership dues are tax deductible. Corporations, businesses, and nonprofits also receive tax benefits for supporting FOHC.
