What is a Scribe?

-A scribe is a pre-medical student who is an extra pair of hands for an ER doctor. You will be there to document a patient's history, help with flow through out the day, and to learn and get clinical experience to help you get into medical school. You will be able to sit in on procedures and observe the everyday life of an ER doctor.

-The purpose of the scribes are to improve the ability of the Emergency Physician to rapidly and comprehensively document emergency patients' care.  The scribe enables the Emergency Physician to begin treatment and reach disposition on patients at the earliest appropriate time. Two times a year, in May and December, scribe applicants are reviewed, screened and interviewed by physicians and senior scribes.  If they meet the qualifications, and have the preferred experiences, the scribes are hired.
