1857- The railroad that connected Troy, New York and North Adams, Massachusetts was finished.

1857- Sanford Blackinton built the first store in his village.

April 1857-The Great Panic of 1857 started.

1858- Sanford Blackinton changed working hours to 12-13 hours a day.

1861-The Civil War started. Because of this, the mill workers worked all day and night to clothe the army.

1863- New machinery was added to the mill. This helped the mill go up by 25% in production.

1864- The Blackinton Mill was the largest mill of it's kind.

1873- Blackinton's market crashed.

1876- The Hoosac Tunnel was completed.

1876- The Welsh immigrants went back to their homeland.
