Battle of the Books - Unpoppable Bubbles

7th & 8th Grade ISU Field Trip -

Students attended Iowa State University on March 19th. They attended various classes on DNA, theater, writing, & engineering! The students had individual break-out sessions and also received a tour of the school!

In The Classroom:

4th Grade ELP - The students finished their J-Hawk Jam Ornament business project and raised over $100 to donate to the Buchanan County Humane Society. The kids even got a personal thank you from Shelly at the Humane Society and her dog, Annie. This group has now published four different J-Hawk Jam's, a newsletter for elementary students and guests to read in the hallways.

5th Grade ELP - This group is currently writing a collaborative children's book and submitting it to the Kids Are Authors contest through Scholastic. They are also helping to write and create the Stall Street Journal.

6th Grade ELP - These students are finishing up their independent projects and several of them will be submitted to various contests such as Invent Iowa & the Kids Are Authors contest. Next, they will participating in Math Bee and using ELP to practice! They are also learning how to create the Stall Street Journal themselves using Microsoft Publisher and writing the articles to go along with it.

7th & 8th Grade ELP - Jesup Xtreme did an awesome job at the regional competition and received excellent reviews specifically in the Core Values area. The 7th & 8th grade ELP class will now begin and Lego League & Writing Club are officially complete for the year. Our ELP class will be learning about advertising and marketing. They will use the semester to explore various careers complete with guest speakers and field trips!
