About Ms. Elsbernd

Hi Everyone!

This is my fourth year teaching and coaching at Jesup Community Schools! I'm so excited to get started again!

I am originally from Calmar, Iowa where I attended South Winneshiek High School.  Much of my family still lives in or around Calmar which is great for when I decide to visit.  My brother, Matt, lives in Rochester and works for IBM. Luke & I just sold our house in Waterloo, and will be building a house in Janesville, IA. We are excited to get break ground very soon.

After high school, I attended Loras College for one year (Go Duhawks!).  I moved to Spearfish, South Dakoda, and attended Black Hills State University for my remaining three years of college. I graduated in May of 2009 with my B.S. in English Education. I completed my Talented & Gifted endorsement last year through Morningside College, and have continued  to work on my Reading and Speech endorsement as well.

In my spare time, I enjoy being with my friends and family, boating on the Mississippi River, kickboxing at Fighterbody in Waterloo with Mrs. OZ, playing almost any type of sport, seeing new places, reading (young adult books are my guilty pleasure), and playing with my dog, Deacon! :)

I'm sure you will see me around the school for various reasons as I teach 8th grade Language Arts, 7th Grade Literacy, & K-12 Extended Learning Program (ELP).  I also coach Lego League & Junior High Track & Field! It is going to be a very busy year!
