About Ms. Elsbernd

Hi Everyone!

This is my fifth year teaching and coaching at Jesup Community Schools! I'm so excited to get started again!

I am originally from Calmar, Iowa where I attended South Winneshiek High School.  Much of my family still lives in or around Calmar which is great for when I decide to visit.  My brother, Matt, lives in Rochester and works for IBM. Luke & I got engaged last May, and will be getting married at the end of the 2015 school year! We are building a house in Denver and couldn't be more excited for this year.

After high school, I attended Loras College for one year (Go Duhawks!).  I moved to Spearfish, South Dakoda, and attended Black Hills State University for my remaining three years of college. I graduated in May of 2009 with my B.S. in English Education. I also completed my Talented & Gifted endorsement through Morningside College, and have continued  to work on my Reading and Speech endorsement as well.

In my spare time, I enjoy being with my friends and family, boating on the Mississippi River, kickboxing, running, playing almost any type of sport, seeing new places, reading (young adult books are my guilty pleasure), and playing with my dog, Deacon! :)
This is my first year teaching just 7th & 8th grade Language Arts & Literacy as I am handing off the ELP Program to our new teacher, Trela Rottinghaus. Trela is an experienced and wonderful person who will do an amazing job at Jesup. I am looking forward to a great school year!! Go J-Hawks!
