Welcome to SLUG’s 56th meeting! We would like to thank WFRC for hosting us. And to HDR for sponsoring lunch. The next UGIC conference will be May 6-10, 2024 in Price, Utah. Registration is now open! Head over to their website for more information.
This meeting's lunch was sponsored by HDR. If you have any contacts that would be willing to ‘sponsor’ a lunch by providing food/drinks in exchange for their advertising at the meeting, contact a SLUG Board member.

Presentations
Bert Granberg - Wastatch Front Regional Council
Bert and his team presented ten GIS data resources that their offices maintain that are valuable for transportation, land use, economic development, and other planning needs. Some of the resources on their list include their Wasatch Choice Vision map, their Workplace Access to Opportunities, and their Regional Transportation Projects map. You can also visit their map gallery to see more of their interactive maps or visit their data portal to download datasets related to transportation and land use planning.
Jeff Baker - Davis County
Jeff discussed the GIS involvement in the 2021 redistricting of Utah to create new legislative districts. Redistricting exists to preserve the principle of one person one vote and is important because it helps to control the outcome of elections. The Utah Independent Redistricting Commission (URIC) has certain mapping criteria that helps to determine which communities can fit into the districts created. The end goal was to prepare 12 maps for the legislature’s consideration for new redistricting boundaries.
Thank you to our presenters and for joining us in person. If you have any ideas for a presentation or any other matter, please contact a SLUG board member. We welcome short or long presentations on any projects that you might be working on that might benefit others. We appreciate your interest and support!
