I am an Associate Professor cum Director of External Engagement at the School of Economics, University of Nottingham Malaysia.
With the GRAS Scholarship under the High Impact Research (HIR) Program of Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia, I completed my PhD in Development Economics at University of Malaya. So far, I've been studying, living and working in Malaysia for more than 10 years. Before moving to Kuala Lumpur, I obtained my Master Degree in Development Studies from Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, UK.
My research interests include development economics, labor economics, micro-econometric modelling, gender studies and digital economy related topics in the context of East Asia and Southeast Asia.
In line with my research areas, I teach Advanced Development Economics, Quantitative Economics, Microeconometric Modelling, and World Economy at the university.
My research papers have been published by well-known economic journals such as Applied Economics, Journal of Policy Modeling, China Economic Review, Feminist Economics, Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, Asian Development Review, and Empirical Economics Letters etc. . Additionally, findings of my research have been presented at national/international conferences in Malaysia, United States, Switzerland, Italy, China, Russia, Qatar, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, and South Africa. I've also been invited as keynote speaker/panelist for economics forums/roundtables/events by various agencies, e.g. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
Beyond academic research, I've been leading or engaged in various consulting projects for Malaysian government agencies e.g. Ministry of Higher Education(MoHE), Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development (MWFCD) and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and for international organizations such as UNDP, OIC and ASEAN Secretariat.
