About us

St Matthew's Church Brooklyn is a co-operating church formed in 1970 by the local Brooklyn Anglican, Methodist and Presbyterian parishes.

The Sunday Church services are in the format of one of the founding denominations.  This provides a rich tapestry for our services and combined worship.

One of the parish members and local historian has recently completed a history of St Matthew's Church from it's Anglican roots to it's current co-operating church status.

How do ministers get appointed?
There is an agreement between the founding denominations that one will take responsibility to appoint the next minister for the parish.  There is an agreed roster of which denomination takes oversight for each appointment.

Who does the parish report to?
St Matthew's is part of the Anglican, Methodist, Presbyterian Churches and Joint Regional Council.  As such the parish reports to each of them, has representatives that attend meetings for each and attend their conferences.
