Over the weekend KWAI moved from Pier 31 to Barbers Point on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii. After a few delays this morning the KWAI was hauled out of the water at Phoenician Shipyard. I've been promised pictures as I was not able to be there myself, and I will post as soon as I get them.
Scheduled this week is some yearly maintenance of sandblasting the hull from the outside and needle gunning from the inside and looking for and repairing any steel that needs replacing and then painting the bottom.
Then the KWAI will return to Pier 31 to work on some new installations from April 26 to May 14. More about this later.
We will accept cargo at pier 31 in Honolulu from May 7 to May 14, 2012.
Hours are 8 am to 12 and 1pm to 5pm.
If you need to bring cargo at ANY other times, please contact us beforehand to make arrangements.
Please bring your cargo to us as soon as you can on these dates so we can be sure to have room for you. Unfortunately we had to turn some people away last time because we ran out of room and we REALLY don't like to do this to anyone.
If you know that you will have large amounts of cargo (anything over 10 m3), please contact us to reserve space,
We will be running very full this next voyage as we are delivering cargo to both Kiribati and the Cook Islands.
We will have a forklift operated by the Hawaii Stevedores on a few different days so please contact us should you need to schedule a forklift to offload your cargo.
All cargo customers are responsible for labeling each piece of cargo with name and Island it's going to and also for putting on a pallet and wrapping it all up in plastic. We usually have pallets available for you but if you can, please bring your own.
Mahalo nui loa and a hui hou (see you soon).
This is Mama KWAI~ wishing you a good day.
