Pedro Lamy is the most accomplished portuguese racing driver to date. He raced in Formula1for Lotus and Minardi from 1993 to 1996, after the usual progression in lower formulas. In 94, while testing the Lotus in Silverstone, a big crash sent him to hospital for a long period. In 95 he won a championship point with the Minardi. He never had a competitive car that would allow him to show his potential.
However, after F1, he rebuilt his career as a professional racing driver for top teams around Europe and the US. He is now part of the Peugeot team in the LMS with the new 908 HDI.
When I started collecting model cars, it was quite obvious that his career would be an interesting subject because most of the cars that he ran were issued as model cars and some of them are beautiful models.
I am sharing with you a view of pedro lamy racing career illustrated by pictures of commercially available or custom made model cars.
I rate the model cars in two dimensions:
1. Relevance - race performance, importance of the event, lasting impression of the car.
2. Quality of the model - general shape, reproduction of details, presentation, etc.
