Composition in art refers to how the elements of design are arranged. There are many ways to compose a page. Two common compositional formulas are Diagonal and Triangular. These formula's have the objects arranged on the page so that the eye of the viewer moves either in either a triangle around the page or a diagonal across the page.
The drawings below use either a triangular or diagonal compositional formula. Can you tell which formula these drawings use? Click on the link "more compositions" at the bottom of this page to check your answers.
