You have taken a brave step connecting to our website devoted to anyone who is seeking recovery from sexual addiction. If you have a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior of any type, you are welcome here. We urge you to give our program a try. It has helped many of all ages, gender, backgrounds and sexual orientations find recovery from sexual addiction.
*What is SAA?
"SAA, is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so they may overcome their sexual addiction and help others recover from sexual addiction or dependency." "SAA is a twelve-step program of recovery based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Our primary purpose is to stop our addictive sexual behavior and to help others recover from their sexual addiction. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior. Our fellowship is open to women and men regardless of religion, race, ethnic background, marital status, sexual orientation, or profession. Our members define their own sexual boundaries with the guidance of their sponsors and other group members. We encourage our members to discover and explore what healthy sexuality means to them." — © Sex Addicts Anonymous (The Green Book)®
Getting Started in SAA
Meetings: We suggest beginning by coming to at least six meetings in the first six weeks before deciding whether SAA is for you. It is important to give yourself time to listen to others' stories and absorb the introductory literature and most importantly determine whether SAA is for you.
All of our meetings are CLOSED meetings. In order to assure anonymity and protect the privacy of our members we ask that all newcomers either meet in person or speak on the telephone with a member before their first meeting. We share during this first meeting the specific location and times of our regular meetings.
There is currently a meeting held either on Zoom or in person every day of the week for the Rochester region. Please contact us for specific times and locations.
Sponsorship: One of the fundamental truths that we have discovered in our program is that we can not find recovery alone. A sponsor is a person in the fellowship who acts as a guide to working the program of SAA, a fellow addict that you can rely upon for support. Ideally, a sponsor is abstinent from addictive sexual behavior, has worked the steps, and can teach you what he or she has learned from the program. Most importantly, sponsors guide us through the twelve steps.
Literature: An important tool of recovery is literature. We have suggestions for literature that may be found at our ISO's website by clicking on this link. The primary piece of literature that we use to help guide our program is called the "SAA" (The Green Book). We also distribute pamphlets to new members that help outline our program, its structure and the purpose of our program.
