Serving as a Wood Badge Recruiter

If you have ever participated on a Wood Badge course as a participant or a staffer, you know how much fun it is!  While a Wood Badge course is certainly filled with fun, as well as lots of challenges, the leadership skills shared during the course are invaluable, not to mention the lifelong friendships that are established during the course.

To promote attendance at Mecklenburg County Council Wood Badge courses, scouters can now serve as a Wood Badge Recruiter.  Promoting Wood Badge can happen just about everywhere we go as scouters: home units, associated units, committee meetings, roundtables, camporees, cuborees, day camps, summer camps, etc.  Not only is it easy to find a place to promote Wood Badge, but the actual process of promoting Wood Badge is really simple.  It's simply a matter of sharing your Wood Badge experience with fellow scouters who have yet to attend Wood Badge, collecting contact information from the fellow scouters, and passing the contact information along to the Wood Badge Course Director.

To be eligible to serve as a Wood Badge Recruiter, a scouter must be currently active and registered in a troop, pack, venturing crew, or varsity team and have participated in a previous Wood Badge course as a participant and/or staffer.  Of course, any scouter that plans to serve as a Wood Badge Recruiter needs to communicate with the Wood Badge Course Director prior to promoting a Wood Badge course to obtain and distribute the most up-to-date information about the upcoming course.

For those Wood Badge Recruiters that successfully complete one or more of the recruitment requirements below, he/she will be recognized at a training event and be awarded a limited edition of a Wood Badge council shoulder patch specific to the current Wood Badge course that can be worn on his/her uniform.  In addition to the council shoulder patch, each successful Wood Badge Recruiter will be presented a certificate, suitable for framing, as part of the recognition.
