Meet the Director: The Reverend Dr. Regina Hopewell is the National Director of Rwanda Ministry Partners.
She and Mark, her husband of 36 years, attend International Anglican Church in Colorado Springs where Regina serves as a deacon. Regina's first career was as a professor at University of North Carolina - Greensboro, and then she served 16 years with Compassion International. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor's degree in Nutrition, West Virginia University with a Master's of Science and a doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology, and from Gordon Conwell Seminary with a Master's of Theological Studies in Christian Ministry. She was ordained as a deacon through the Province of the Anglican Church in Rwanda (PEAR) and remains canonically resident in Rwanda, licensed by the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).
Not having any of their own children, she and her husband have been long-time sponsors of many children around the world through Compassion, including three that they currently sponsor in Rwanda. She has traveled to Rwanda five times (twice to visit IAC's sister parish in Kibali, Byumba Diocese) and continues to occasionally lead church engagement and donor trips for Compassion. Additionally, she and her husband are hosts through Airbnb, where she has many opportunities to use her gift of hospitality to engage and bless people from across the globe with a comfortable place to stay. Regina has expressed her passion for Rwanda and for the importance of the Word of God by serving for many years on the boards of the Word for All Nations and The Word for the World.
In her spare time, Regina enjoys bicycling, going for walks, gardening and playing with her cat, Hidey.
