10 items are allowed at a time
Broaden your child's interests
Select more thought provoking titles & subject matter that may not initially appeal to him/her
Select fun read-aloud books (is child "stuck in a rut" -- need something different?)
Select additional reading material for your child
2 books may be checked out at a time, unless there are special circumstances (K & 1st start with less in the fall).
1 of the books checked out needs to be at the child's reading level, meeting teacher requirements or in quiz program (2nd - 4th).
If a student forgets his/her library books from the previous week, he/she will be unable to check out new ones.
However, an additional book may be allowed if child is responsible with book return (especially in Friday classes).
If a child returns a portion of the books checked out, a new book may be chosen as long as the account is in good standing.
Books are due 2 weeks from the time of check-out.
If more time is needed, books may be renewed (child must show the book to the librarian).
Books can be renewed as often as necessary as long as other students are not waiting for the book.
Overdue notices go out once a month. Any child who has had a book out for 3 weeks or longer will receive one.
If you receive a notice and feel there has been an error, please send a note with your child. I will be happy to look for any book in question.
Books that are two months overdue will be fined for the cost of replacement and the monthly notice will look more like a bill.
To clear your child’s name and allow future check-outs, please pay the amount shown.
Discounts are offered at the start, so it is advantageous to pay bills promptly. Checks should be made payable to Corvallis Primary School.
If a book is found later, the office will send out a refund check, provided it is still in usable condition.
It would be helpful to establish a special place in your home for library books. This would save both you and your child unnecessary anxiety when the next library day arrives or when overdue notices come out. If your child has difficulty with library book return, it might be best to have them keep 1 book in their desk or cubby at school and just bring 1 home at a time.
