The Personal Agile Manifesto

I did talk about Agile being a guiding philosophy rather than merely a framework for change in my past posts.

The trigger to change is not only driven by the events at your work place but also by the will and the desire to improve your life, for those around you and the society at large

To take this thread further, I present here the" Personal Agile Manifesto"

We have been working to bring a positive change to people's lives and through these we have learnt, that a positive change happens when

"People & relations" are more important over " Process and rules"
" Visible results"  are more important over "Rhetoric and rituals"
"Collaboration" is more important over "Contracts and protocols"
"Responding to change and planning" is more important over "Following a plan"
"Self belief" is more important over "Following a known path"

Though all of the above are self explanatory, I provide a few examples below how these apply to our daily life

Manifest 1: "People & relations" are more important over " Process and rules"

Well, the examples for these are all around us . From mohalla societies , to Anna's Jan Andolan , to Gandhiji's independence movements, the change has been brought on to the society not by mere ordinances and laws from the government but by the power of people connecting together to do what they collectively think is achievable.

So, the important aspect here is to connect and be able to form a long lasting, sustainable, positive relationship with fellow human beings.

Manifest 2:" Visible results"  are more important over "Rhetoric and rituals"

Relations thrive on trust and trust is a byproduct of Visibility. If you have started a movement of change, whether it is for yourself or for those around you, your fellow human beings will not connect to you by just good talk and nice words but by seeing the results you deliver to yourself and to those around you.

A simple way to achieve this is the Personal Agility model that I explained in my earlier rumbling.

Manifest 3: "Collaboration" is more important over "Contracts and protocols"

This takes off from the first manifest. An important success factor in your journey to change is to be able to find the right partner to help you, guide you and work with you. The relation need not be ritualistic ( marriage, partnership, co-worker Et al) but the one which you can trust on and where there is a common goal

So, find your change partner and jump on. Formalities and rituals all left far behind

Manifest 4: "Responding to change and planning" is more important over "Following a plan"

Do I need to elaborate it more !......

Planning is important , plans are useless. period.

Manifest 5:"Self belief" is more important over "Following a known path

Ok, this is my own tacky wacky addition to the Agile manifesto. A lot of us try to follow the treaden path because someone walked on it and was successful.

But.....does that mean every man ( and woman :)) who walked down that path have been successful?

You know where I am getting to, if you can't find a pre-known way to reach your goals, simply dig, beat, jump, hop, skip to find the way that works

Owwww.....that was a long one and my fingers hurt now..So I would leave you with those thoughts ...do try to think about even one of them deeply and my day would be made :)

Dozing off as I finish my graveyard flight to the lands of Idlis, dosas and kanjivarams
