8pm - New Start Time

posted 11 Jan 2012, 13:35 by Richard Brook

I am changing the official start time of the moot to 8pm.
Due to a change in my circumstances I now have to get the train to and from the Southern outskirts of Birmingham for work. Resultantly a lot of times I only get into Rugby station at the old start time of 7:30pm so will need a bit of time to get to The Raglan.
People are very obviously welcome to congregate at 7:30pm or before if they wish, but if you're the only one there, don't give up on me coming along before 8pm (possibly later if there are problems on the trains).
If possible keep an eye on the facebook page as that is my best means of updating if I can't make it, or am running late.

Rugby Pagans One Year Old Today!

posted 8 Nov 2011, 16:15 by Richard Brook

Today is the first anniversary of our first moot!
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the group in whatever way. Whether by coming to moots, organising rituals, joining in with our various online ventures or just by supporting us, you have all made it possible for the group to make it through the first year, still growing and developing. I honestly didn't know if the idea would make it this far when I decided to try and set the group up.
I have met some lovely and inspirational people along the way and I hope others share my enthusiasm and my enjoyment of Rugby Pagans.
If you haven't been to a moot yet, or haven't been to one for a while, there is no time like the next one and we'd love to see you.
I am very thankful for the friends I have made and those that I am still to make.
Happy Birthday Rugby Pagans!

The Talking Stick November Issue

posted 2 Nov 2011, 18:08 by Richard Brook

We hope everyone had a fulfilling Samhain celebration (or will have depending on your path)!
Our newsletter The Talking Stick sees it's second ever issue emailed November 3rd at 10:30am.
The issue is full of interesting contributions from Rugby Pagans members. Particularly interesting given our looming 1st anniversary as a group is the birth chart drawn up for the group by one of our members.
There is still time to sign up for a copy via the Newsletter section of this site. Registration is quick and easy. If you miss the deadline please feel free to email to request an individual copy. Contributions for December's issue can also be emailed to this address by November 25th as usual.
Failing this you can collect a hard copy at the next moot, although I do bring a limited number and preference is given to people without internet access.

Rugby Pagans Approached For TV!!

posted 26 Oct 2011, 12:20 by Richard Brook

Rugby Pagans have received an approach from a researcher for a production company. They are working on a series for The History Channel that explores Britain county by county.
The approach states:
"An important part of the series is finding great events and interesting people with which [the presenters] can get involved with, that will challenge them and provide a unique and energetic way into the history and culture of an area."
Filming would take place over the weekend of 4th-6th November. I think the production company are ideally looking for an event, or ritual they can film, but further contact would be required between us and them to establish what they are really looking for.
Obviously there are many issues connected to such an appearance that we should consider and discuss. For example:
- Are we happy to do this as a group?
- Who would be happy as an individual to be filmed?
- What would we be happy to be filmed doing?
- Are we concerned as to public perception?
- Are we concerned as to being recognised in the local area, by people less receptive to alternative spirituality?
- Are we concerned regarding the agenda of the production company?
We would welcome all members thoughts on the forum and facebook page before deciding on a response to the approach.

New, New Mailing List - No Really!

posted 6 Oct 2011, 15:15 by Richard Brook

The mailing list system we are using, for the newsletter The Talking Stick, has changed.
The previous mailing list was difficult to sign up for, and was effectively not usable for what we want to do - It actually wouldn't let us send the newsletter as we tried to yesterday!
The new system is so simple to sign up for and gives us all the options we need, and a few brilliant ones we never knew we needed.
The first issue will be sent via the new system on Saturday 8th October at 9am.
We thank subscribers and potential subscribers for your patience, and apologise for the incovenience. I hope that everyone that signed up for the old system. amd the rest who didn't, will sign up for the new system and that you will find The Talking Stick informative and enjoyable.
Sign up is once again through a form in the Newsletter section of

The Talking Stick Hits A Snag

posted 5 Oct 2011, 15:05 by Richard Brook

Firstly let me start by thanking everyone that has subscribed to our mailing list.
Unfortunately I am having some teething problems with the mailing list system which have prevented me sending out the first issue of our new newsletter The Talking Stick.
Before offering the opportunity to sign up I tested sending 3 emails to a number of my email accounts using this list. All tests were successful.
Upon trying to send the genuine email to you all it became apparent that these emails were not sending correctly (unless anyone can advise me differently). I have contacted Topica's support department in this regard and await their response.
Should this take more than a couple of days to resolve I will send this month's issue out to the subscribed email accounts individually, and hope that the issue is resolved in time for the November issue.
Thanks again for going to the time and trouble of subscribing.

RP Email News Letter: "The Talking Stick" & Members Only Section Of Forum

posted 29 Sept 2011, 13:27 by Richard Brook

The Talking Stick
As of October 2011 Rugby Pagans will be publishing an email newsletter, called The Talking Stick, based on the contributions of members. The spirit of the letter is based on everyone having a say through it, should they want to - hence the name.
If you would be interested in a receiving a copy of The Talking Stick please enter the email address you would like to receive the letter at, on the "Newsletter" section of this site and follow the on screen instructions.
If you would like to contribute the deadline for inclusion in any month's issue is 25th of the month before. All contributions would be gratefully received.
If events of interest arrive after the deadline we may consider doing a mid-month update.
A limited number of physical copies of The Talking Stick will be available at the first moot after publication.
New Members Only Board On Forum
In response to user request a member's only section has been introduced to the forum.
The reason for this is to keep the forum viewable by guests, but also to give members a place to post threads an responses that they would not otherwise post on the forum viewable by guests.
The title "Member's Only" is freely viewable by anybody but if you click on it as a guest you will be prompted to sign in using your usual forum username and password.
Many thanks & blessings!

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the lack of updates on the website and the forum recently.
Many of you will know I have recently moved house twice in six months. I am now finally in my permanent home and today two fine gents from my internet provider came and transferred my services to the new address so normal service will be resumed.
In addition to this I have been asked to investigate the possibility of producing a news letter and I will be working on that idea in the coming weeks.
In the mean time I can only apologise if you checked this site and the next moot date said August for the whole of September, or if you have been waiting for you forum account to be approved, and for all the other things I have missed while my connection was down.
Please don't be put off by this period of time, we're still going strong and having lots of fun at The Raglan!

Moot 7th June 2011

posted 1 Jun 2011, 11:09 by Richard Brook

At the last moot we began making plans for a Midsummer open ritual and it was decided that on 7th June people would be bringing their favourite Summer Solstice ritual from their book collection in to inspire us.
Please feel free to bring your personal favourite with you if you are coming to this moot.

Moot 24th May 2011 - Write A Ritual

posted 18 May 2011, 10:00 by Richard Brook

At the next moot we are planning to have discussions in reference to writing a ritual, that we hope to perform as an open ritual the weekend closest to Summer Solstice. Please feel free to come along even if open rituals aren't your thing, as we will still find time to talk about other topics as well.
Even if you can't or don't want to attend the ritual your contributions to the discussion may make it a better ritual for those who do!
