Health Care

Utah is a thriving state full of charitable people with a commitment to lifting up those in need. We are a people that understand it’s about “we”, not “me”. We have a shared responsibility to help those individuals and families that for whatever reason need a helping hand to lead a safe, healthy, and fulfilling life.

Very few individuals or even families can save enough at all points in their life to pay the tens of thousands of dollars even a short hospital stay costs. We must stop sending our uninsured to the emergency room for treatment, racking up medical bills that there is no way they can pay. Those costs get passed on to everyone else and we are paying for this health care whether we like it or not.

There is a fiscally responsible way to pay for this health care. Insurance was created to spread the risk and as everyone knows, the greater the number of individuals in a private or public insurance plan, the lower the risk to any specific individual. We can keep health care money in Utah, paying the salaries of Utah’s nurses and doctors and enriching the lives of one hundred and sixty thousand Utahns, by fully accepting the Affordable Care Act.

  • Invest in preventative care instead of treating the uninsured in the most expensive place, the emergency room.

  • Provide mental healthcare and substance abuse treatment to all who need it.

  • Leave medical decisions between men, women, and their physician.
