Friday Rubber Bar Night: DJ Taffi Louis
DJ Taffi Louis is the featured musical performer at Friday's Rubber Bar Night. Creating special atmospheres tailored to each audience has been Taffi Louis's approach to DJ'ing all along. In fact, leather/fetish and bear events were his first audiences. After visits to other major cities where their leather bars sounded… rugged, seductive, sleazy, but sophisticated and social, Taffi will bring his unique blend of these elements to Rubbout. Aside from DJ'ing, Taffi Louis is also known for throwing events like Thickset, a hangout night for Bears, Cubs & Friends, Roboteria, an electronic music night reminiscent of the future we expected in years past, and the more recent success of Truckerdisco. Outside Vancouver, Taffi is known for playing at various San Francisco, Seattle, and Toronto events and has even been offered a residency at Victoria's Hush Nightclub. In 2012 and 2013, he's been nominated for Best Promoter and Best Electronic DJ in the ClubZone Vancouver Nightlife Awards, and in 2013, has had his Truckerdisco and Roboteria events nominated. You can get more of Taffi Louis at Rubbout's unofficial after-party, Davie Disco Social Club, Sunday at Oasis Ultra Lounge, 1240 Thurlow Street on the second floor. Here's what else to look forward to at our Friday April 12 Rubber Bar night:
Saturday Rubber Play Party: DJ Richard Priest
DJ Richard Priest is the featured musical performer at Saturday's Rubber Play Party. Richard has played in clubs and bars around Australia and New Zealand for over 10 years. Starting as a queer alternative DJ in the early 2000's, he has supported and toured with bands like !!!, Duran Duran, Moving Units and had DJ residency at numerous divey, rock bars in Melbourne, Australia. Then in 2005, Richard started playing electronic music in underground Australian queer parties like QnA, Loose Ends, Underbear and has supported big name DJs like Mugwump, Stephen Allkins and Daniel Wang. Richard now resides in Vancouver BC, is a self-confessed gear addict and will be bringing a low-slung, sleazy soundtrack to this year's play party. For a sample, check out Richard Priest on Soundcloud. Here's what else to look forward to at our Saturday night April 13 rubber play party:
Saturday afternoon at Rubbout is an opportunity to explore your inner puppy or just to watch others exploring theirs! The puppy event takes place 2-5 PM at The Junction, 1138 Davie Street, on Saturday, April 13. The event is free. There will be a puppy mosh, puppy training, and a "best in show" fun contest. For news on the Puppy Play Party, see our Facebook Event page.

Rubbout Appears on No Safe Word Podcast
Listen to our very own, Reid Rubber Canuck, talking about Rubbout on the No Safe Word podcast.
The Rubbout 22 poster, at right, made its debut at the Rubbout Kickoff Party, held Saturday March 16 at Pumpjack Pub. The poster was photographed by Hans Visser, who is a kinky latex and rubber enthusiast living in rural Washington state. Hans has been wearing the shiny stuff off and on for the last 15 years, and has amassed a modest collection of gear in that time. He has been bothering friends and family with his photography for at least that long, and has recently started playing with fetish imagery - mostly self-portraits, along with the occasional shoots of other people. You can find more of Hans's original photography at Two Hands to Choke.
