Hear, for I will speak splendid things,

and the opening of my lips matters of right.

1For this translation I had two printed editions at my disposal. The first was printed in 1555. It is available online at: http://jnul.huji.ac.il/dl/books/html/bk1302705.htm. The other was originally printed in 1826 in Warshaw with a commentary. I will refer to the first text as 1555 and the second as 1826. One peculiarity of the 1555 edition is that the letter "פ" is often replaced with the letter "ת".

21555 has the title as רוח החן whereas 1826 drops the ה. I have translated החן as "the Grace". To fully appreciate the author's intention see MN, I:54, especially the Rambam's explanation of Sh'mot 33:13.

3This epigraph is found in 1555 not 1826.
