"Ser feliz é encontrar força no perdão, esperanças nas batalhas, segurança no palco do medo, amor nos desencontros. É agradecer a Deus a cada minuto pelo milagre da vida.”

"To be happy is to find strength in forgiveness, hopes in battles, security on the stage of fear, love in disagreements. It is to thank God every minute for the miracle of life."

Research

Academic Fields: Structural Economic Dynamics, Structural Change, Economic Development, Evolutionary Game Theory

Both my MSc. Dissertation and Ph.D. Thesis have focused on the benefits of trade on Economic development. Their central theme is the quest for understanding the theory and practice of development process from a structural economic dynamic view. While keeping this initial research focus on the role of trade to explain technological gaps between rich and poor countries I’ve started to deal with Contract Theory and Evolutionary Game Theory. Decisions such as engaging or not in the informal labor market, for instance, can be largely explained by incentives that workers face that range from comparisons of wage differentials to the flexibility of labor legislation. My research also focuses on the analyses of the incentives that financial institutions have to cope with combating financial crime and corruption. These issues are particularly important for underdeveloped countries. In 2008 I’ve completed my post-doctoral studies at the University of Siena – Italy – where I have the opportunity to go deeper in the game theory evolving.
