Q: What is a pathfinder?
A: A research guide to find library resources and more, on a given topic (books, eBooks, websites, etc.). Pathfinders are subject bibliographies designed to lead the user through the process of researching a specific topic, or any topic in a given field or discipline, usually in a systematic, step-by-step way, making use of the best finding tools the library has to offer. Pathfinders may be printed or available online.

Q: How do I use a pathfinder?
A: Simply click on the tab above for the subject area you are interested in and you will be taken to a new page which has links and resources for that specific topic.

Q: How do I print off a pathfinder?
A: The collection of pathfinders that can be found on this web portal are primarily intended to be used online and not printed off. However, you can print by clicking on the File > Print link from the menu bar on your browser. In addition some online pathfinders have links to PDF copies that can be downloaded and printed.

Q: Who created these pathfinders?

A: These pathfinders were created and updated by the librarians for the reference department at the Reading Public Library, Main Branch.
