Tree Planting - 22 February 2018

On Thursday 22 February 2018, 48 children in Year 2 at Tornedale Infant School were joined by staff from Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Doncaster Outreach volunteers and many parents to plant 300 trees! With so many people helping the morning session flew by and all the trees were planted before lunchtime.

We are currently in the process of transforming a large space on the school field into a wild area. The purpose of this being that the whole school will be able to access it with a view to making better use of outdoor learning provision incorporating forest school activities.

The area will eventually be full with trees, wild flowers, bug hotels, observation stations, a reading area and many other outdoor activity areas.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have been involved for a while and are currently helping the school to plan the area. They are providing members of staff to dig paths, plant trees and wildflowers and to help us see how we can make the best use of the area.

A huge thank you to all who came to help.
