About Us

Welcome to our website

I am the Headteacher at Tornedale which is a small but growing school, with 6 classes and a Nursery. We have good links with other schools in the village, which is important to us as our children move to a junior school at the end of year 2. I'm sure that if you asked the children and staff they would say they like it at Tornedale, and visitors often comment what a friendly school we are.

As Headteacher, I am very proud of the schools reputation for achieving consistently good SATs results, and children usually make good progress throughout their time at Tornedale. This school believe that each child has individual needs and working with parents we strive hard to meet them.

We hold workshops and meetings to make sure parents have the chance to find out as much as they need to.

Our last Ofsted was in February 2013.  We acheved good  in every aspect, and were commended for our good work. Ofsted recognised that many aspects of our school are outstanding and that we have the capacity to improve even further. It was made clear to us by Ofsted that unlike many local schools there is no need for us to join an accadamy for support.

The staff at Tornedale are one team that work hard together, children at our school understand that everyone's role is important from cleaning staff to senior staff, and I think that is one of the reasons our school works so happily together. We have good links with other infants schools in the Local authority and are an associate of Doncaster Teaching School.
