Research

Interests

I study human cognition by looking at the part of the brain that processes visual information. Primarily, I study how images briefly held in mind (in your 'Visual Working Memory') can be remembered while new inputs enter our eyes during perception of the surrounding world. I'm interested in a bunch of other things too though, and wish there were more hours in a day to study them all.

Techniques

I measure people's behavior while they perform simple computer tasks (psychophysics), or measure brain signals using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) or Electroencephalography (EEG). To disrupt ongoing mental processes I've used Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). I make sense of data by writing code & applying computational techniques.
