Please check your child's planner each night for homework assignments. Initial at the bottom of each night. 

As we enter the final week of school, I want to say thank you for an amazing year! This class will always hold a special place in my heart. Parents, thank you for the incredible support for your children and all of Welby Way.  Have a fabulous summer!!

All library books MUST be returned by Friday, May 26th!
Final report cards will be held if there are any outstanding books or fines to be paid.

Minimum days: Thursday, June 8 and Friday, June 9.  Dismissal is at 12:30

Language Arts: Unit 3

High Frequency Words: 

Grammar: contractions, irregular verbs, suffixes, letter punctuation

Writing:  persuasive, dialogue, friendly letter, descriptive

Read Aloud: Wonder

 The students will continue reading and responding to literature independently to the book "Sideways Stories From Wayside School".
2nd Grade: Module 7-Problem Solving with Length, Money and Data. ALL STUDENTS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO MODULE 7 IN ZEARN.
Please have your child make flash cards of addition and subtraction facts to 20 and practice them daily.  Log into the Zearn site for additional math practice.


3rd Grade: Module 7- Geometry and Measurement Word Problems. All students need to be caught up on Zearn.  

Math homework for 2nd and 3rd grade is in a spiral bound book and will travel from school to home daily.  The book needs to be returned everyday!

Social Studies: 
We will continue to learn about the Native American culture.

Science:    Stormy Skies

We performed our first experiment in this unit last week.  The children learned how clouds are formed, what they are made of, and the process of evaporation. This week we will discover how to predict when it is going to storm.

Health: Getting along and learning to compromise will be the focus the next 2 weeks.

AR tests will be taken at school.  

ComputerWise Kids can be accessed at home for keyboard practice.  Information will be sent home with specific instructions to access this program.  Keyboarding is an important skill for all students.  Please encourage your child to practice at home.

ZEARN is a supplemental math program that is closely aligned to our math program.  I sent home a letter and your child's log in information. I have entered all the student names.  Here are the class codes to get started:

Homework: Independent reading is required for 15-20 minutes each night. Homework that involves reading counts toward the minutes.

Please have your child practice keyboarding on Typing Tutor every week, at least 2 lessons a week.  
*The activation code to place Scholastic book orders online is DXPV3. There will not be any other orders placed for this school year.

Last Day of School is Friday, June 9.  Minimum Day dismissal time 12:30
