April 23-Chumash Experience at Welby Way (whole class)-A letter about this activity was sent home on Monday, April 2nd.  It's not too late to send in your donation for this experience.

April 25-26 Rock Hounds at Welby Way (second grade)

April 30th-Coffee with the Principal and Restorative Justice workshop.

May 1-Biomes performance in Room 33 at 8:15am. You must sign in at the office at 8:10 before coming to the room.

May 13th-Tree People Field Trip (second grade) 

May 24-Second Grade Square Dance Performance at 8:15 am in the auditorium

For 3rd Graders-At least new AR points will be required by May 1, 2019.
2nd Grade: Module 6-Foundations of Multiplication and Division
Please have your child make flash cards of addition and subtraction facts to 20 and practice them daily.  Log into the Zearn site for additional math practice of the daily lessons.


3rd Grade: Module 7-Geometry and Measurement Word Problems. Please complete Module 6 on Zearn. 
The Homework Helpers for this module will be sent home on Monday, April 22nd.

Please send in head phones for your child if you have not already done so, so Zearn can be completed in class as well as at home.

Math homework for 2nd and 3rd grade is in a spiral bound book and will travel from school to home daily.  The book needs to be returned everyday!

Social Studies:
 Native American Communities.
We will experience some Native American activities at our presentation on April 23rd.  

Stormy Skies, Weather and Climate: In the first two lessons, we have learned about different types of clouds and how to be storm predictors!

We will perform Biomes after Spring Break. The date is currently set for Wednesday, May 1st at 8:15 in Room 33!  It will only change if something on the Welby Way master calendar conflicts. But as of now, there is no conflict!

AR tests will be taken at school.  

ComputerWise Kids can be accessed at home for keyboard practice.  Information was sent home with specific instructions to access this program.  Or, you can access Computer Wise Kids from the Welby Way Website. Click the Technology tab and click the portal log in. Keyboarding is an important skill for all students.  Please encourage your child to practice at home at least 5 minutes a night. Your child can practice skills on www.typing.com in addition to typing tutor.

ZEARN is a supplemental math program that is closely aligned to the Eureka math program.  I will send home your child's log in information at Back to School Night. Here are the class codes to get started after you receive the log in information:

Students can access the Scholastic News,  website to read the edition at home that we will read in class by using the following website:

Find the issue we are reading.

Homework: Independent reading is required for 15-20 minutes each night. Homework that involves reading counts toward the minutes. 

Bring in a silent reading book from home at your reading level!

Please have your child practice keyboarding on Typing Tutor every week, at least 2 lessons a week.

Square dance is every other week.  On the weeks we dance, kids will skip PE.  Third grade will participate in square dance in the next few weeks.  The schedule is tentatively set for Friday afternoon for third grade.
