Rogers Graigfechan


The business was based in the village of Graigfechan which is situated some 4 miles south west of Ruthin and just a mile from the Llysfasi College.

The first coach recorded was a Bedford OB / Duple Vista which came from George Edwards in 1964. The main proprietor of the business at that stage was Cecil Rogers. He was later joined by his son Eric who soon took over the business.

The main work was private hire and one major customer was the Ruthin School which included overseas journeys. Other work was mainly school and college contracts.

By 2003 the 3rd generation of the family, Kevin Rogers, had joined his father and became a partner.

Unfortunately in April 2011 Eric Rogers died at the young age of 60. Kevin ran the business for a couple of years but decided to cease trading in 2013 and develop an alternative career. At that stage there were six vehicles in the fleet and the business operated a number of school contracts. The business had a number of regular customers for their private hire work. The contracts and drivers together with one vehicle were acquired by GHA Coaches. The remainder of the fleet was sold privately.

Most coaches owned were given a livery of beige with an orange stripe. One coach sold, a Volvo B10M-62 / Van Hool XIL3673 is still to be seen in the area with this livery.

The yard and workshop at Graigfechan were later used as a sub depot for Llew Jones of Llanrwst.

The table below gives a list of all recorded vehicles known to have been with this operator.  I am indebted to David Donati for his dedicated work in compiling this data and enabling me to present it.

The column 'Pre HISTORY' shows information about the vehicle before joining the fleet including any re-registrations.  The column 'Post HISTORY' shows information about when the vehicle left the fleet and any known information of the subsequent history after the vehicle left the fleet.
