BACKGROUND HISTORY

Whilst the firm was in the name of J Price (Joseph) it was in fact a family affair in that three brothers at one time or another were involved.

The earliest service appears to have run from Wrexham to the Castle Inn, Pentre Broughton.  It was operated in a car believed to have been an Oldsmobile and driven by brother Leonard.

The third brother Earnest joined the firm for a short while.  He and Joseph (Joe) once worked at the local coal mine Gatewen Colliery.

The first full size bus DM5992, which was known as the 'Star', was purchased from T and G Evans of Cefn-y-Bedd and this was bought together with their route which ran from Wrexham and Cymau.

The business grew and during the early part of the 1930s buses were running locally between Wrexham and Tanyfron, Wrexham to Llay, Wrexham to Caergwrle via the Llay Main Colliery, Wrexham to Cymau and the original route of Wrexham to Pentre Broughton. In addition express services and excursions were being run between the village of Rhosllanerchrugog to the resorts of Rhyl and Blackpool. These services would pick up passengers at various locations around Wrexham

In April 1935 the business was sold to Crosville for £12,500 and the fleet at that time of 9 buses were transferred.

After the sale Joe involved himself in local authorities and politics.  He became Clerk to the Broughton Parish Council and then a Councillor on Wrexham Rural District Council and Denbighshire County Council.
