BACKGROUND HISTORY
The business was started by Llewelyn and Barbara Davies. They had four daughters and therefore Llewelyn decided to call the business 'Four Girls'.
The first full size bus to be purchased in 1978 was a Bedford VAM70 -
45 seater Duple Viceroy coach and it was initially used to convey
workers to the Shotton steelworks. By 1984 some 10 vehicles were in the
fleet and route work was established between Mold, Wrexham and Chester.
Of the 'four' daughters only two joined the business – Carolyn and
Elaine both having become qualified drivers. At one stage Llewelyn, Barbara, Carolyn and Elaine
were joint holders of the operating licence. After the unfortunate
death of Llewelyn in 1997 the business was very much in the hands of Carolyn and Elaine
and their husbands. Carolyn and Elaine became the holders of the
operating licence. The main work was mainly private hire and school
contracts and the fleet was predominately Volvo with a distinctive and
smart blue livery. |
In the right hand column - where available - there is a link to a photograph of the vehicle. The photo will open in a new window. Links in CAPITAL LETTERS suggest the vehicle is seen when with the operator.
The column 'Pre HISTORY' shows information about the vehicle before joining the fleet including any re-registrations. The column 'Post HISTORY' shows information about when the vehicle left the fleet and any known information of the subsequent history after the vehicle left the fleet.
