The People Loving People Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving Day Information
The most visible project that People Loving People performs is the annual free Thanksgiving Dinner. This has been ongoing for ten years and in 2015 we fed over 3200 meals in upper East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
A branch of the 501(c)3 non profit Four Square, Inc. organization, People
Loving People utilizes hundreds of volunteers and thousands of dollars of
donations to pull off the annual Thanksgiving Dinner.
In 2015 we served: 1600 pounds of turkey; 600 pounds of
ham; 1500 pounds of green beans and corn; 700 pounds of
mashed potatoes; 600 pounds of sweet potatoes; 300 pounds of cranberry
sauce; 2500 servings of dressing; 20 gallons of turkey gravy and 15
gallons of ham gravy; over 3000 rolls; 1000
slices of pumpkin pie and hundreds of desserts.
Any left over food was picked up by Of One Accord to be used in their Community Food Program and reports were that over 200 more meals were served using what they received!

The Rogersville 4th of July Celebration is

Celebration Committee has as its purpose to provide a fun, FREE day of entertainment
and excitement for kids of all ages as well as adult attendees. “There are many folks in our area who can not
pack up the car and go to the beach or Dollywood for a vacation or family fun
trip. We want to provide an outlet that
gives folks something to do with their families and it does not cost them very
much. We usually have a Kids Zone with
rides for the kids; free swimming; free entertainment; educational exhibits; and
a huge fireworks show. We pack a lot
into about a 12 hour day” said Mark DeWitte, Treasurer of the Rogersville 4th
of July Celebration and Four Square, Inc.
Support for the 278th ACR
We were very fortunate to be able to offer support to our local 278th and their families as well as regional support through the Kingsport FRG. We were able to do many things for the families while loved ones were gone. Being able to bring our local troops home for Christmas with their families was one of the most exciting things we have ever done! We were able to provide a catered meal the the troops and their families when they returned from their overseas duties.
The Clouds Creek Band in cooperation with People Loving People / Four Square Inc. is organizing a benefit singing for the victims of the recent tornadoes in our area.
A tentative date of Friday, May 27 at 6pm has been set for the concert to take place at the Hope Community Church on Highway 11W just northeast of Rogersville featuring many local bands.
Tentatively scheduled to perform are The Benny Wilson Band; Clouds Creek Band; the Bulls Gap Band; The Groove Machine: the Hope Church Praise Band; the Christ Fellowship Praise Band and possibly others.
“Steve Gray of the Clouds Creek Band called me last week and it was obvious we had both been thinking of ways to help our neighbors. We put the wheels in motion to get this going and whatever comes of it we will give God all the Glory” said Dr. Blaine Jones of the People Loving People organization.
“Many folks have stepped forward to help in this event. Currently our plans are to take cash/check donations, donations of personal hygiene items, towels, wash clothes, hair products, combs, brushes, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, diapers, wipes, laundry detergents, clothing, toys, non-perishable items, flashlights, batteries, water and anything else they could possibly use. We will load it up and transport it to them. We are also preparing a silent auction to raise more funds for involved victims support,” Jones went on to say.
The People Loving People organization is a non – profit, 501(c)3 corporation. Their primary event is the free Thanksgiving Dinner in Rogersville each year.
“We know there will be many people who would like to attend the concert but on such short notice may have other plans. They can send their donation to People Loving People, P.O. Box 35, Rogersville, TN 37857 and in the memo portion of their check write ‘tornado’ and all those proceeds will be given for the tornado relief."
"These folks are our neighbors and but by the grace of God it could be them organizing a relief effort for their neighbors in Hawkins County. It is the least we could do besides offering our prayers,” Gray, of the Clouds Creek Band, stated. “We want to use our talents to provide some benefit, some relief for those involved.”
Prior to the concert anyone wanting to make a donation of clothing, toys, food or other supplies may do so at the downtown locations of CompuPlus Technology Solutions and The Looking Glass Hair Salon, both located at 301 East Main Street in Rogersville.
“What better way to kickoff the Memorial Day weekend than to help our neighbors who are going through a difficult time. We hope everyone who can will join in and help us to help them in anyway they possibly can,” Jones went on to say. “Church groups or other social organizations are invited to help us as well”.
For those who would like to donate an item for the silent auction, contact Melissa Jones at 423-293-4272.

Prayer at Big Red Valley
In the Fall of 2011 it was noted that a "moment of silence" was going to be substituted for the traditional prayer before football games at Cherokee High School. The saying of the Lord's Prayer during that moment of silence has now been organized not only at Cherokee but now at Volunteer High School as well.
Expecting God's Help
Expecting God's Help became affiliated with Four Square, Inc. in January of 2012 as well. Many Prayer Events have been organized throughout Hawkins County. Please visit the separate web site www.Expecting-Gods-Help.com for more information.
