Rocky Mountain Fiberglass Rendezvous
(Formerly the Rocky Mountain Egg Rendezvous)
(Formerly the Rocky Mountain Egg Rendezvous)
The Rocky Mountain Fiberglass Rendezvous (formally known as the Rocky Mountain Egg Rendezvous) borrows its name from annual gatherings held between 1825 and 1840 by the St Louis based trading companies and Rocky Mountain fur trappers. The large St Louis based companies put together mule trains packed with supplies and each summer met the trappers and native Americans at a pre-announced location in the Rocky Mountains to trade eastern made manufactured goods for Rocky Mountain furs. The Rendezvous were joyous events held in beautiful Rocky Mountain locations where the free trappers, native Americans, native trapper wives, children and just travelers met to celebrate and trade. Like the original, our fiberglass trailer Rendezvous is a joyous affair and also like the original we meet at different sites in different years in the cool summertime Rocky Mountains.
Updated June 30th, 2025:
Colorado fiberglass trailer owners Greg & Ilse Hine cordially invite fellow fiberglass RV owners everywhere to join us for the 12th annual Rocky Mountain Fiberglass Rendezvous.
The 2025 Rendezvous will be held from Monday, July 14th to Friday, July 18th at the Camp Hale East Fork Group campground, in the newest USA National Monument on US 24 north of Leadville, south of I-70 in central Colorado.
Campground info: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/whiteriver/recarea/?recid=41327
The campground has pit toilets, but no water, electricity or cell coverage, though we do expect to have Starlink, high speed internet available. A dump station is available about 20 minutes south at the Leadville sanitary district office ($20).
Come, enjoy and experience some cool summer respite at approximately 9,200’ elevation in the beautiful Colorado mountains! In the past we have tended to have in the range of 30 trailers at the Rendezvous. Any lenght of stay is fine: Arrive and depart when you want.
THE CAMPGROUND
The East Fork Group Campground is in an open ponderosa / aspen forest with plenty of space for all trailers. Unlike some previous Rendezvous there is no need to make your own reservation over at the Camp Hale Memorial campground which is a couple of miles away. We recommend everyone plan to camp in the group site.
THE LOCATION:
Historic Camp Hale was a US Army training facility constructed in 1942 for what became the 10th Mountain Division. Soldiers were trained in mountain climbing, Alpine and Nordic skiing, cold-weather survival as well as use of various weapons and ordnance. When it was in full operation, approximately 15,000 soldiers were housed there.
On October 12, 2022, President Biden designated Camp Hale and a noncontiguous nearby land part of the Tenmile Range as Camp Hale — Continental Divide National Monument.

ACTIVITIES:
Monday evening plan to join a campfire (wood contributions appreciated) with hors d’oeuvres & drinks as contributed by the assembled campers.
Tuesday evening we plan to have a potluck dinner at 6 pm followed by another dusk campfire with desserts, drinks and music (if folks bring their instruments) as desired.
Wednesday will be a PIZZA DINNER partially supported by Escape Trailers. We'll supply several different pizzas to choose from. You bring your own beverage.
We also look forward to holding…
… A book exchange. Bring a book. Take a book. See what others have read.
… Trailer item swap & sell. Bring anything “trailer” that you’re not using and swap, sell or give away to someone who might be able to use it.
… Trailer open house. See the cool things others have done to their trailers.
... Discussion groups on anything and everything trailer camping including favorite campsites, trailer tips and just about anything "travel trailer".
If you play an instrument, be sure to bring it and join in with others for some impromptu playing.
Rumor has it that there's some fishing in the creek/small river which runs right along the campground. Colorado fishing license is required.
We’ll have a whiteboard at the Rendezvous headquarters updating the activities.
Camp Hale also has great hiking, mountain biking, Nova Guides with four-wheeler tours and more (https://www.novaguides.com). Vail with many summer activites is about 40 minutes away, historic Leadville about 20 minutes.
RENDEZVOUS COST
Renting the group campsite costs $262 / night. We take donations at the event to help cover this. If past participation is any indication, you can figure in the range of $15 - $20 / night per trailer.
GENERATORS
It's intended for the Rendezvous to be quiet and comfortable for everyone. That being the case, please only run generators from 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 9 pm. We'll consider other times to be quiet times. Also, if you plan to run a generator, please choose a site on the periphery of the site, farthest from other campers.
OTHER
Please sign up below so we can get a handle on the number of participants & trailers. (You do not have to put in your email, or even your last name if you'd prefer. But at least sign up with first name(s) and trailer info please, as we'd just like the best possible count on the number of participants & trailers which expect to come.)
