Stop Procrastinating with Rocket! Data management

What is procrastination

Procrastination is delaying an action or a task, usually the one that seems unpleasant. It may be a work task assigned to you or a home task you have to do (for example, if you delay dishwashing, you are procrastinating).

Procrastination problem

Procrastination stems from lack of planning and self-discipline. The problem of procrastination is that we always have a choice of what to do. Our tasks are divided into pleasant (e.g. reading your favorite website) or unpleasant (creating a report for your boss). It is in human nature that we prefer doing pleasant things and delaying unpleasant ones (procrastinating).

How to stop procrastination

You can always try turning unpleasant tasks into pleasant ones, or find a pleasant way to do things. Most of our users say that planning time and tasks with Rocket! Data management helps them stop procrastinating. This is how it works:

First of all, you should shift your paradigm. If you dislike your tasks, you will definitely like getting rid of them (fulfilling them in time). Below is a step-by-step instruction that will help you stop procrastinating in a week.

Step One

Go to Sections tab and create a new section. Call it "Stop procrastinating".

Step Two

Go to Items tab and create seven items. These will be your days of the week (leave the Comment field empty for now).

Step Three

Now, go to Properties tab and create 24 properties (1,2,3 and so on, up to 24). These are your hours (they will be assigned to each day in the "Stop procrastinating" section).

Good. Now start creating your plan for tomorrow.

Step Four

First, mark your sleep hours (e.g. 1-6 and 23-24). These are procrastination-free, so do not count them.

Then, plan your office and home tasks for each hour of tomorrow. Just assign values to your properties. Your records may look like: "9-00 - report for the boss" or "12-00 - lunch and Web surfing", or "18-00 - doing chores", or "21-00 - watching TV". The most important thing is to accomplish each task within the specified hour.

Tomorrow, before you go to sleep, analyze the day and evaluate it. If you accomplished all tasks within their time frame, specify this day as "success", otherwise - "failure". Then, plan the next day.

What happens after a week of such planning? First, you become more organized. Second, you start liking the process of doing things
instead of procrastination. Our users say that analyzing the results of the day becomes a great pleasure in itself, and they even feel uncomfortable if for some reason fail to perform the analysis before going to bed.
