Servant-Leaders in the church
Leaders in the church arise out of the community of faith in order to serve it and to equip it for ministry in the world. Church leaders are called by God, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and sustained by the grace of Jesus Christ, to witness to the transforming power of the gospel and to serve as Christ served.
In the Reformed Church in America leadership is formally invested in the offices of the minister of Word and sacrament, the elder, and the deacon. Together they are called to enable the whole ministry of the church and to equip all those who through baptism are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
