California Young Reader Medal (CYRM)

Since 1974 the students of California have nominated, read, and voted for their favorite California Young Reader Medal books in five categories: Primary (Kinder ~ 3rd grades), Intermediate (3rd ~ 6th grades), Middle School / Junior High (6th ~ 9th grades), Young Adult (9th ~ 12th grades), and Picture Books for Older Readers (4th grade and up).
At Robinson, students vote in two categories: Primary (Kinder ~ 3rd grades) and Picture Books for Older Readers (4th and 5th grades). Ms. Yukari reads all of the nominees during the fall and winter; voting takes place in late winter/early spring. Students are encouraged to independently read the nominees for the Intermediate category and vote for their favorite.
