For more than 30 years, the guitar program at James W. Robinson Secondary School has provided a welcoming, enjoyable classroom experience to guitar students of all levels and interests while maintaining a high educational standard.

The Guitar Ensembles at Robinson offer guitar students an opportunity to stretch themselves musically through participation in highly accomplished performing groups. There are two levels available to students: Introductory Guitar Ensemble and Advanced Ensemble.

Over the years, the Ensembles have developed a reputation for both technical and artistic excellence. While the focus of the ensembles is the development of classical guitar technique and the performance of classically-oriented music, students perform a wide assortment of guitar ensemble literature from many musical traditions. The groups have performed in many local and national venues, and have consistently earned “Superior” ratings at local and national music festivals.  In 2006, the Robinson Guitar Ensemble was the first pre-college group invited to perform at the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America International Convention and Competition.
