Short Bio. Roberto Schimmenti received his BSc (2011) and MSc  (2013) in Chemistry at the University of Palermo (Italy). He received his PhD in Material Science at the University of Catania (IT) (2017).

He is currently a Marie Skłodowska–Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Physics of the Technical University of Denmark (Nørskov Group).

From 2017 to 2021 he was appointed as Research Associate at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (Mavrikakis Group) of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Research. My research is focused on computational chemistry applied to the field of catalysis. In particular, I am interested in theory-guided strategies for discovery and synthesis of new catalytic materials with targeted properties. I extensively use Density Functional Theory calculations, together with kinetic modeling to identify design principles that guide the stability and catalytic activity of materials.
