Welcome to Robert M. Bruce Art works.  I'm an artist based in Toronto, Canada and I was educated in fine art at the University of Toronto as well as the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD).  The medium I use is mainly acrylic and most of my paintings are whimsical in nature; sometimes incorporating architecture, sky or heavenly bodies.  More recently I have added some landscapes to my body of work.

Influences on my work include the Pop artists of the 1960's (Roy Lichtenstein & Andy Warhol) as well as more recent ones like British artist David Hockney, or the Americans, Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf.  The Surrealist painters, Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali, are others.  The Impressionist, Raoul Dufy, is another.
Trends in my work include drawing with the paint and incorporating and engaging unpainted areas of the canvas or board.  I use a limited palette so my use of colour tends toward the polychromatic.

My sculpture consists of found object assemblages of either old toys or papier-mached objects as well as some wood-working.
Thank-you for looking at my artwork and I hope you enjoy the work displayed on this site.
