New Mexico Shooting Ranges

Loads of fun first time out to 1,000 yards

I was impressed, if I do say so myself, with my shooting first at the 350 yard range and then out to 1,000 yards. It was great fun. I'm only disappointed that I wasn't able to put paper targets downrange and measure groups and more finely update my ballistics tables calculated from some Excel spreadsheet I found on the Internet.

350 Yard Range Near Alamogordo, NM

This range near Alamogordo, NM has pistol and rifle shooting out to 350 yards measured at 100, 200, 300, and 350 yards. At 350 yards they had an iron-silhoutted buffalo. After carefully working our way out from 100 yards and verifying my ballistics table, we were impressed at how well we were able to dirty up the white painted buffalo with Australian NATO surplus ammo. My friend Roger called and hit the tail first shot. I laid down a half-dozen or so shots on the beard and missed a few. Roger also put a few shots at the base of the horn.

Roger and I work the tail and beard at 350 yards
