Artist Bio

I paint from travels near and far.
Since I was a young girl, I have enjoyed painting.   My favorite medium is oil, although I also work in pastel and charcoal.  Over the years, my style has evolved from realism to impressionism, with expressive brush strokes and impasto technique.  My palette primarily consists of warm colors.  My subject matter reflects what I enjoy most -- traveling.  I see the world through the eye of a camera, taking home thousands of reference photos from my travels.  Many of my paintings are street scenes from Israel, Italy, France, and Brooklyn, where my son and daughter reside.

Although primarily self-taught, I have consistently taken classes with an established artist/instructor, and enjoy the camaraderie of a talented group of artists.  Between my advertising career and raising two children (now adults), I painted in my spare time for the sheer joy of the process.  As far back as I can remember there was nothing more self-absorbing or gratifying than the process of creating art. The world falls away; there are no deadlines, and I can spend as many hours as I choose working on one piece.

Over the years I’ve exhibited and received awards from juried shows, including the Middlesex County Fair (Best of Show and Third Place), Middlesex County Senior Art Contest (Second Place), East Brunswick Library, Monroe Township Library and the South Brunswick Municipal Center Art Gallery (on display October 5 – December 30, 2010).   A selection of my paintings is also on display at the Farnsworth Gallery in Bordentown, NJ.
