Since I was born, I have been a Christian. I went to Christian schools starting in preschool and ending in 4th grade. Starting in 5th grade and continuing through 8th grade, I went to a Friday morning bible study. In the bible study, I met and became good friends with a girl who had stronger faith then me at the time. Since 5th grade, I have been active in my church’s youth group. In 8th grade during Confirmation, I deepened my faith when I wrote my confirmation speech. By the end of the year near confirmation Sunday, I finally invited some of my friends to bible study. I decided that I would put God first and go to bible study instead of doing other things I wanted to do. During most of my middle school career, I actively participated in Wyldlife (a division of Young Life). I became more active in 9th grade when there wasn’t a Friday morning bible study to go to anymore, participating church in whatever activities my church offered. In 10th grade, a Friday morning bible study was started at my school which I attended. Also in 10th grade, I was able to do a better job at managing my time so I could get my homework done and started going to Campus Life. I remained active in Campus Life and the Friday morning bible study for the remainder of my high school career. In 11th grade, I started going to my church’s youth group on Wednesday nights and continued until I went to college in the fall. I still participate in it during summers and breaks when my friends who my faith in God grow stronger. As I entered college, I wondered how I was going to continue my growth in my faith at a private non-religious independent university. I ended up finding Campus Ministries and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at the start of my college career. I started actively participating in Campus Ministries through the bible study that was held by the campus minister of Greater Fort Wayne Campus Ministry and as my schedule allowed and the youth group type activities that was held by the campus minister of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. As the year progress, I started taking a bigger role in planning and running meetings and group operations and I was a founding member of the Faith and Fellowship group, the group that become an independent, self-sustaining group after it was decided that we wanted to be through of as an independent group. I participated in the organization until it was no more in addition to serving on the leadership board. I also started taking an active role in FCA by helping with the organization’s operations which includes meeting planning and running. I currently am on the leadership board and help with the organization’s operations. Towards the end of the year, a friend of mine invited me to go to a Wednesday night college bible study and I went. I enjoyed it so much and felt such a great effect on my faith that I continue to go every week. It has been and continues to be a great part of my walk with Christ and I’ve been lucky enough to have people helping me and being supportive even though some people around me don’t. After friends invited me, I started going and continue to go to Brookside’s Collateral, a college ministry, where I gained a greater insight of my faith and beliefs. I started contemplating going to seminary after school and becoming a pastor, so I decided to start becoming more active in my church. It all started when I decided to volunteer to do the audio-video for both of my church’s Sunday morning services. It was the second time that I was listening to my pastor’s sermon that I realized the center of my life was the internet even though I was trying to make it God. I have been encouraged though others to stand strong in my beliefs, even if they differ from those of people close to me and that beliefs are far more important than tradition. It made me think about how God had a plan (and still does) for me. Even though, I had went to Sunday School for fellowship, bible study because I liked a girl and even church because my parents told me I had to, God was working though those events so that when my life got pretty bad, I would personally accept Christ for myself. Since then I have started wanting to do things, not only for the fellowship, but also for the spiritual growth.
