NOTE (12/05/2011): The new Roam Control website is

This site will no longer be maintained.  Thanks!!

Roam Control is an Android application that allows you to force roaming on your CDMA cell phone.  It currently supports HTC and Samsung phones, and it is geared towards Sprint users.  The app does support both unrooted and rooted HTC phones, but please note that root is required for other phones.

This app is useful when you are in an area with a weak signal and your phone does not roam onto a stronger roaming signal.  Putting your phone into a "roam only" mode will make your phone choose the roaming signal, improving the reliability of your phone and improving battery life.

I will use this web page to post announcements, updates, answer questions, etc.

For questions, please refer to the FAQ first.  Then if your question isn't answered, feel free to send me an email.  I try to check my email once a day, so please allow me 24 hours to respond.

Thank you to purchasers for supporting individual developers like myself!!

Update on 12/21/2011

I'm sorry to report that Roam Control has pulled from the market yet again.  It's the same story as before...I received an automated email from Google that did not provide any specifics on why the app was pulled.  I have tried to appeal the decision numerous times, but I have yet to receive any type of acknowledgement or response from the Android market team.

As a temporary solution for customers who have already purchased the app, the app can be downloaded here:
- For users who purchased the original app (version 1.7.0 or earlier), please use the version available here: LINK
- For users who purchased the new app (version 2.0.0.g2), please use the version available here: LINK

I'm obviously not going to put the app back on the market unless I get the go-ahead from Google.  As an alternative, I will likely either make the app available through the Amazon Appstore or directly through this website.  Please stay tuned for details.

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the donation effort!  After the app was re-published in the market, all proceeds (minus Google fees) that were received from purchases within the first 48 hours were donated.

My employer participates in a local adopt-a-family program which is designed to help local families in need.  The primary family adopted by our team is a single mom who is supporting her two children while at the same time dealing with some difficult health issues.

Thanks to all of your support, together we were able to donate $240 (in the form of gift cards, which enabled us to get an extra $10 thanks to a coupon).  This will help provide the families with essential needs such as food and clothing, along with some goodies for the kids :)  I said that I would provide a copy of the receipt, so here it is!

Please let me know if you see any issues or if you have any questions, thanks!

Update on 11/29/2011

I received an email today from Google indicating that Roam Control was removed/suspended from the market.  I did not receive any explanation, other than it was "due to a violation of the Developer Content Policy."  I'm working on getting the app restored, however I've come to understand that Google is incredibly unresponsive in these situations.  If I cannot reinstate the app, I will certainly make it available in some other fashion.  Please stay tuned for further details.
