Q: WHEN IS KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION?

A: Kindergarten Registration begins in February and is ongoing throughout the summer. Registration is done online via the districts website Bridgewater Raynham School District. After filling out the online portion, you must bring in any physical paperwork to the registration office at the Mitchell at the Middle during school hours. For more information please visit the link above.

Q: WHAT IF I MISSED THE DATES TO REGISTER FOR KINDERGARTEN?

A: Registration is ongoing, that said, the longer it takes to get Kindergarten students registered, the longer it takes Mitchell Administration to assign your student to a class and a teacher over the summer. Whenever possible, it is best that all students planning to attend Kindergarten in the fall are registered by the end of February each year. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to register as early as possible.

Q: WHAT IF MY STUDENT DOES NOT YET HAVE ALL OF THE PROPER HEALTH TESTS AND PAPERWORK?

A: At the time of registration in February, it is possible that your student has not yet had their yearly physical. If this is the case, please be in touch with our school nurse, to share with her the date of your student’s physical (ksmith@bridge-rayn.org). All paperwork must be complete and on file at school by September 1, 2018. The Health Office will take from you anything your pediatrician has prepared, so if some health forms are ready, please send along whatever you have them and your file will be tracked until complete.

Q: IS THERE PAPERWORK THAT PARENTS NEED TO FILL OUT FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS?

A: Yes. Between Kindergarten Registration in February and, ideally, no later than September 15, 2018, please be sure to fill out the following documents:

  • Kindergarten Registration (done online, starting in February)
  • Kindergarten Profile (mailed home in June, please bring with you to June screening)
  • Health Forms (obtained at your pediatricians office, strict deadline, September 1)
  • Emergency Contact Information (sent home with students first week in school)
  • Health Overview for School Nurse (sent home with students first week of school)
  • Authorization to photograph and videotape your student (sent home first week of school)
  • Acknowledgement that you have read the student handbook (sent home first week of school)

Q: WHAT IF WE REGISTER FOR KINDERGARTEN AT MITCHELL BUT ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND?

A: Not to worry, this happens a lot. Sometimes families are moving out of town, sometimes families choose to attend Kindergarten at their Day Care and sometimes families choose a private Kindergarten. At Mitchell, we support whatever you feel is best for your family. In return, all we ask it that you send us something in writing so we may make the change. Please send a letter to: Mitchell Elementary School, 166 Mt. Prospect Street, Bridgewater, MA; ATTN: Main Office.
