Another success story - Anne Marie has qualified to represent Northamptonshire in the National Women's Singles Championship at Leamington next month.  Good luck Ann-Marie!

24th July 2018

Our Ladies Team qualified for the National Top Club Area Final against Norfolk on Saturday 21 July. Their path to the final was not easy, beating Kingsthorpe, Stotfield, Desborough and finally Barton Le Clay along the way. These were great results in themselves to say the least.

So the final came and the Ladies did themselves and our club proud. They played hard and well, Anne-Marie gave us a good start by winning the singles. However, they couldn't quite get over the finishing line, losing only by 2 shots on 2 disciplines and 1 on another, all on the last ends. So very close.

Reaching this final has certainly put Roade Ladies Team on the map, a great achievement by all concerned and one to be proud of - Well done Ladies.

We are having an excellent summer all round and our events are doing exceedingly well. Our Pig Roast was a sell out and we had 100 people sitting down to eat.  We played a friendly bowls match in the morning against ex-police teams and in the afternoon we had our fun roll up for bottles of wine.

We are having a  friendly bowls match on Wednesday 25 July against a team from Travis Perkins - should be a good night.

This Sunday, 29 July we are having our Sunday Carvery 12 - 3.00pm and the last one was also a sellout - so don't delay and book your places NOW.

11th July 2018

Really GOOD NEWS today

After a hard game against yet another good and fancied side, our TOP CLUB team pulled together to take a win over Barton-Le-Clay who are currently the best team in Bedfordshire.

One more to go before the finals in LEAMINGTON.

Dare we begin to dream?

Well done to all our players.

Serious Stuff.   We would like to remind our members that it is the Bar and the functions which keep our Club going and at the moment we are finding it very difficult to provide a steady supply of Bar Staff, the same people are having to do most of the work. If you have expressed a wish to help with the Bar please contact Tony or Marian and discuss when it is suitable for you. We are especially short of staff for the Sunday lunches if you could spare a hour or so to help it would be very much appreciated.

We are always looking for volunteers to help out with all the work done around the Club, gardening, hedge cutting,  and if you feel you have any skills which would help us we will gratefully accept them.

23rd April 2018

A big thank you to all 22 club members who turned up on Saturday morning to help with the work around the Club. The marquee has now been erected, all the chairs and tables have been put out and repaired. The markings around the green edges have been renewed, the mats around the green have been put down and the green has been edged. The top flower bed has had the bushes clipped and the never ending process of weeding has begun. It was a superb turn out and it was a great help to have so many of you help out.

If you would like to continue to help there is always weeding on the top flower beds and you can just turn up at any time if you have a spare hour or two !!.

The green will officially open on Thursday 26 April.  The nets will be on the green to protect it as it is still a little wet,  these should not affect your bowling, look forward to seeing you over the weekend.

18th March 2018

Saturday 17 March Many thanks to Roade Bowls Arctic Expedition team who had their first training day on Saturday 17 March in freezing and snowy conditions with a bitter easterly wind working on the Club Car Park. Armed with only a chain saw, pruners, secateurs and also the odd spade or two they tackled the car park verges and the overhanging shrubbery and trees. We now  have a larger car park and we are considering offering it to Northampton Council for their new Bus Station.

The team consisted of Mike Crouch, Peter Edwards, Peter Martin, Howard Elwick, Alan Brittle, Pat and Ceri who provided the obligatory bacon rolls, tea & coffee to our intrepid workers. Many thanks to you all.

Sunday 18 March - Carpet Bowls Invitation Game - I have to report that the Lads won today the final was Simon David and Graham Holden against Ron Peacock  and David Gostelow a hard fought match  well worth watching - Well done lads!!  The scores on the doors are Girls 2 - Lads 2

Another reminder - Membership Sundays - March 25 and April 1,
