Robin's Nest MISSION

“Pursuing Justice, Providing Hope, Promoting Healing”

The Children's Advocacy Center of Caldwell County, known as Robin's Nest, is a 501(C)3 nonprofit that coordinates resources to serve child victims of sexual and severe physical abuse.  The name evokes images of safety, security, and caring - all elements that are fundamental to our work.  Staff and local agency representatives work together to transform crisis into healing, hope, and justice for child victims and non-offending family members.

Robin's Nest is the center or coordinated services in Caldwell County for children whose lives are traumatized by abuse.  It is our MISSION "to pursue justice, provide hope, and promote healing" for the children we serve.  We work to ensure that children disclosing abuse receive vital services efficiently and effectively, without further victimizing them by the intervention systems designed to protect them.  Our center operates on a service delivery model designed to decrease trauma, increase likelihood of prosecution, and enhance community capacity to provide protective service for our abused children.  Services include:

¨ Case review by a nationally trained Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) from DSS, law enforcement,
prosecution, mental health, and school system, if appropriate

¨ Forensic interviewing by the MDT and  forensic medical exams by a trained Nurse Practitioner

¨ Contacting Protective services, if needed

¨ Counseling therapy for child victims and non-offending family members

¨ Advocacy throughout the legal process

¨ Community awareness about abuse

It is our VISION at Robin's Nest that Caldwell County will become a haven for children, where there is zero tolerance for abuse and a community spirit that assures young people that we treasure and will protect their childhood.  We believe that a community can be judged by the degree of emphasis it places on the welfare of its children.

In fact, in the words of Marian Wright Edelman, "If we don't stand up forchildren, we don't stand for much at all."

Robin's Nest and its community partners - Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, Hudson Police, Granite Falls Police, Lenoir Police, the 25th Judicial District Attorney's Office, and the Department of Social Services - stand together to stand up for the children of Caldwell County.  We are joined by collegial partners that include the Caldwell County School System, the Department of Health, and the Chamber of Commerce in our mission "to pursue justice, provide hope, and promote healing."  We are also joined by many local citizens committed to supporting our work, and we are thankful for their generosity.

And so, Robin's Nest stands alongside national leaders like Marian Wright Edelman as we reach out a caring hand to children and non-offending family members who are struggling to walk out of crisis toward healing and hope.  We hope you will join us in our mission to transform the lives of children whose lives are traumatized by sexual or severe physical abuse.  Together, we can "stand up for" all of our children and prove that our community values each one.
