Translation Book Deals

I'm really excited about the prospect of dedicating myself to literary translations, which is what first attracted me to become a translator.

That romantic image I had of literary translators when I was younger soon disappeared once I started working in this industry back in 1997. Translating books is a different segment altogether and getting your foot in the door isn't as easy as it seems. Well, so it is for writers to break into the publishing world, I believe, but that's definitely another story.

After getting a Kindle as a gift from my husband in December 2010 and realizing that unfortunately there wasn't so much material available for me to read in Portuguese, I was motivated by friends and family to give it a try and engage self-published authors whose works were interesting enough for me to wish I could read their stories in my native language.

That was the opportunity I needed to reboot my career. Nowadays it's easier for authors to publish their books online and it's even easier for readers worldwide to have access to international literature. I was soon determined to work in bridging that gap to help my fellow Brazilian readers discover foreign authors who were publishing their own work and shifting the publishing paradigm.

Stay tuned for upcoming book release announcements!
