An American (dog) in Paris

We started demolishing the upstairs kitchen the day I finished my comprehensive exams for my PhD. Our friends (and former renters) Mike & Mandy gave us a hand in tearing apart their old kitchen.

 Halfway done

All of the cabinets are gone. This wall was so badly damaged that we covered it with a thin layer of sheetrock, rather than try to repair the crumbling plaster.

The finished master bedroom.

Now let's take a look at the master bathroom, which used to be Mandy's bedroom. We opened up a doorway in the wall (thanks, Dad, for helping us with that!).

A view from the bathroom-to-be into the bedroom.

The floors are now refinished, and the shower base and plumbing installed. We hired a plumber for the master suite conversion. It's a good thing we did, because we barely finished in time.

Half of the shower is tiled with 12" marble tiles.

The finished shower, with a framless glass enclosure. We got to use the shower for a week before we moved. It was nice while it lasted.

Tiling the tub surround.

View from inside the tub. We bought a Civil War era dresser and converted it into a vanity.
