Angel Island, San Francisco, was the "Ellis Island Immigration Station" of the west from 1910 to 1940.  It was the entry point for the Riverside and San Bernardino Wongs including Sam Wong, (Voy's father) and Poy Wong (Voy's older brother).

Both Sam, Poy, Voy and Fay Hing Lee Wong are remembered with engraved commemorative bricks installed on July 23, 2011 along with hundreds of other Chinese who entered through the station.

See photos of the commemorative event under Photo Album.
