Alert! Changes for Finale Meet

Hey Folks -

Sooooo .. We have been told by the YMCA Aquatics Director that our meet is too big and will violate fire code regulations. The league coaches have voted to split the meet into 2 meets with 10 & unders swimming first followed by the 11 & overs. Here is the new schedule:

10 & Unders:

7:30 - 7:50 Warmups (other teams at 7:50-8:10)

  • Ln 1-8 River Hills (Cold Pool)
  • Ln 9-10 Lake Wylie (Cold Pool)
  • Ln 1–8 Tega Cay (Warm Pool)

7:45 Officials & Head timer meeting

8:10 Coaches Meeting

8:30 Meet Start

11:23 Meet End (estimated)

11 & Olders

12:00 - 12:20 Warmups (other teams 12:20-12:40)

  • Ln 1-8 River Hills (Cold Pool)
  • Ln 9-10 Lake Wylie (Cold Pool)
  • Ln 1–8 Tega Cay (Warm Pool)

12:20 Officials & head timer meeting (if needed)

1:00 Meet Start

3:30 Meet End (estimated) *NOTE: this is only about an hour longer than the original projection

We realize this is quite a cluster. Yes. Water under the bridge. Now we need to figure out how to make this work. Cancelling was not an option, all teams are committed to making this work no matter what so that all of our kids get the chance to swim one last meet.

Entries - Obviously if there are any entry changes because of this, please let us know ASAP.

Events - Event numbers will not change, each meet will just skip what is not applicable. So at the 10 & under meet, it will run in this order: Event 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 17, 18, 19, etc. The 11 & older will start with event 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, etc.

Volunteers - With regard to Volunteers, Jessica Neely and Julie Key have already begun work to figure out what needs to be filled. Team parents for 10 & unders will remain as they were. They are assessing the other positions. If you're a volunteer and have swimmers in both parts, please let Jessica ( know which one you'd like to volunteer for (both is an acceptable answer!) Look for emails from Jessica reaching out individually to help fill any holes we have as we sift thorough this change. Please get back to her ASAP.

As for the other meet details that we were going to contend with regardless, answers to those questions (parking, checking out swimmers, concessions, etc) can be found here on the website.

On a final note, I want to stress that its going to be VERY, VERY HOT. The facility is just that way, it happens every swim meet. PLEASE plan accordingly, for yourselves and for your swimmers. Please consider leaving the elderly or those with health issue at home and getting a sitter for younger siblings.

Question? Please don't hesitate to ask.
