Find your device IP

Here you can learn how to find out your device's network address or IP address, on different kind of devices and OS:

Windows XP computer

Go to Start -> Run... and type "cmd" (without quotes)

Push intro key and in the pop-up window (command window) that appears, type "ipconfig" (again no quotes) and hit the intro key again.
You will obtain something like this:

The field IP Address is the one corresponding to your machine in your network. If you have more than one LAN adapter, look for the Wireless one.

Windows 7 computer

Go to Start -> Search box... and type "cmd" (without quotes). You'll find a program called "cmd":

Click on it, and in the pop-up window that appears, type "ipconfig" (again no quotes) and hit the intro key.

You will obtain something like this:

The field IPv4 Address is the one corresponding to your machine in your network. If you have more than one LAN adapter, look for the Wireless one.

Linux computer (Ubuntu, Fedora, Mint ....)

Open a terminal window and type "ifconfig". The field "inet addr" is the one corresponding to your machine in your network. If you have more than one LAN adapter, and you don't know which one is your wireless adapter you can type also "iwconfig" and find it out. (Check the screenshot).

Apple computer (Mac OS)

Mac OS is actually running Linux on the background, so you can type "ifconfig" in a terminal also as the previous Linux example. To open the terminal window, go to Finder -> Applications Folder -> Utilities -> Terminal.
